Flat World Recordings provides mobile services to meet your on-site recording needs. Founded by J Scott Hinkley in 2007, the services under the Flat World umbrella include mobile record production, live recording, and mixing/editing.
Bringing nearly a decade of recording experience in various types of formats, J Scott has honed his craft specializing in the mobile environment. ABOUT J SCOTT HINKLEY...
Founder and Recording Engineer J Scott Hinkley earned a Music and Business degree from Bradley University in Peoria, Il where he studied the music industry in both the classroom and the field. While in Illinois, he accrued various Front-of-House work enriching his audio experience.
As a singer/songwriter, J Scott developed effective recording techniques when he began producing his own demos over a decade ago. Impressed with what they heard, several area musicians requested J Scott’s services to produce and record their projects as well.
J Scott played live venues on a consistent basis at the time, and mobile and live recording opportunities continued to accumulate. As he traveled, he would also record and mix the shows of other musicians at the venue. It soon became a regular occurrence for J Scott to load up his remote gear and travel to mobile locations where he’d create demos for other artists. These live sessions not only led to record production opportunities but grew his contacts and loyal clientele in the industry.
In 2005, J Scott moved to New York City where he earned a masters degree at New York University in the acclaimed Music Business program. He thrived in courses from both the Music Technology department within the Music Professions school as well as record productions courses from the Clive Davis School of Recording.
By the time of his graduation in 2007, J Scott was completely immersed in the music industry. While working in music licensing at a digital media company, he developed Flat World Recordings and continues to expand his clientele.
